    movetheair:

I enjoy being mindfucked by this movie.

Watched this last night. My exact sentiments.

Nobody sits like this rock sits. You rock, rock. The rock just sits and is. You show us how to just sit here and that’s what we need.

Finally watched A Single Man - simply ah-mazing! It was right up my alley as a lover of all things beautiful. Tom Ford designed this film impeccably.  And then of course, there is Colin Firth in arguably his best performance. Brilliant performances too by by Julianne Moore and Nicholas Hault. I’ll confess that at times I felt like Ford’s heavy hand overwhelmed the sombre mood of the story and it felt a little emotionally detached. A small price to pay though for a must see movie!

    Bright Star (2009)
I had the pleasure of seeing Bright Star at the last weekend. Jane Campion’s biopic of John Keats’ later years and in particular his relationship with his lover, Fanny Brawne is a deeply romantic film: moody, sumptuous, beautiful and sad. There is a soft and sorrowful elegance to the story of young doomed love.
There are particularly outstanding performances from our very own Abbie Cornish as Fanny, Paul Schneider as the jaded Mr Brown and of course Ben Wishaw as Keats.
A great film and a must see for fans of period dramas. I must confess however that the film’s subdued nature and maturity left me feeling a little more educated than moved. Which is fine I guess, but like the star-crossed lovers, I longed for more.

    movieoftheday:

Sophie: Kiss me. Game?Julien: Game.

Love Me If You Dare (Jeux d’enfants)
I adore this film - so french, so stylish, so un-holllywood. It’s a thrilling experience as u witness two of the cruelest, yet adorable characters ruin their lives through the conceit of the game. Intriguing to the very end!

"It didn’t seem like he wanted to have sex with her. That was one of my first reactions… I think he actually wants to be her age. I think he thinks he’s her age some of the time, and I think he is someone who has a very difficult idea of accepting the circumstances of his own life, and so, like a lot of people-and I mean a lot of people-he is very capable of explaining his life to himself as something that it isn’t, and living in a kind of false reality, and living in a bubble of a fantasy. And that’s how everybody always ends up doing everything, you know? I mean, there are very few people that wake up every morning and say ‘I’m going to do something today that is wrong,’ you know? And then go and do it."

peter sarsgaard on his character in “an education”

talk about a dead on description of a midlife crisis at any age.  that whole thing about explaining his life to himself as something that it isn’t and living in a false reality…how many people have you met that do that every single day?  that have done that every day of their lives?

    500 Days of Summer (2009)
As anticipated, I loved it!! A bitter-sweet and honest look at love. For anyone who’s experienced love’s thorny and persuasive illusions.
