    70books:

The scariest part of being in a relationship and loving someone is when you realize that you want no other role in their lives but THE role. The main role, the person above all others, the woman that all other women will forever be compared to. That’s when you know you’ve thrown your hands up and bowed to the realization that there is no way you’ll walk away unscathed after that.

    Just some 3am thoughts.

    Couldn’t agree more…it’s crazy/beautiful…

Karaage Ramen from Suzu Noodle House in Japantown couple weeks ago

A piece of fried chicken got stuck in my throat earlier tonight as I gobbled down my dinner of Karaage Ramen. I’ve tried drinking warm water, eating an apple, pounding my back, my chest and jumping up and down for a good while with no luck. Did u know Japanese cuisine is my favourite? I eat it almost every day and it may become the death of me. The irony.

    It’s a brand new day…

and I’m heading to the land of warmth, familiarity and dreams! Always feel this way after my Wednesday nightcap of GLEE. How epic was the poker face rendition? And I discovered today (coz I’m not at all familiar with the Broadway scene) that Idina Menzel is married to Taye Diggs. Some women do have it all!! (:

    Monday Mania

This week will be the death of me, I know it. I came into work at 7am this morning and I’ll be leaving once I post this at 9.55pm. The air-con wasn’t working for half the day, once it was fixed they decided to freeze us as compensantion.

On the plus side, I have Friday til next Tuesday off (even if it’s study/exam leave for CA). The study plan looks like this: braid my hair on Friday, head up to Newcastle with Zola on Sat for some mayhem then come back on Sunday for Mothers Day. No idea when I’ll actually study…meh…’

Please tell me you’ve had a better start to the week?

    Long weekends…

are what life is made of.

    • Did all the errands, socialite commitments, church, ANZAC Day memorial service/parade by Sunday and spent today at home on: facebook, tumblr, washing, baking, photography and whatever the fuck else i felt like.
    • Around midday as i stalked my way through Fb, I got a call from a random no. only to be surprised by Zola, my bestie Aussie/New Yorker back Down Under for a 6 week holiday. I’m equally frightened and excited at the mayhem in store. This girl puts the zing my life. Can’t wait to see her tomorrow, 1+ year apart is too long.
    • I’m not anxious about work, as I usually am every Sunday night. The next few weeks are gonna be EPIC with tax deadlines left, right and centre. I always get so overwhelmed and stressed out this time of the year, but I’ve decided to take control this year. I’m not married to my career, nor does it define who I am. I’ll put 100% effort and commitment over the next month and the rest is beyond my control.
    • It feels good jotting down my thoughts.
    • Tuesday is finally here so I better get some sleep. A good day to y’all.

One call is all it takes…

I got a call from an unfamiliar number today. I stared at it for a while, willing the caller ID to give me a name - it didn’t. I picked up the call and hastily said “hello”. A deep baritone replied and my heart skipped 10 beats. The voice was unmistakable. A montage of painful memories laced with joy flashed through my mind. I finally tuned back to the call,  realising I hadn’t heard a word from the caller. I didn’t catch his name, but he was confirming a takeaway delivery address on the other end of town. I told him I hadn’t made an order, getting agitated by the ‘prank call’. You see, he had a habit of pranking me at random. I’d always catch him out because of his distinct deep voice and the hybrid American-Aussie accent. The caller however didn’t have his accent and I soon realised it was a genuine mistake. “Sorry, you’ve got the wrong number” and I hung up the phone, hands shaking.

At the end of a relationship, closure is vital to enable both parties to move on. I didn’t get it with him. I was warned by many, including his sister (a good friend of mine), that he would break my heart. Sure enough, after 6 months of sporadic dating, he relocated to the other end of the country. Initially, he‘d call me daily promising regular visits and romantic getaways. I was thrilled and hopeful, although a part of me didn’t believe him.
